Welcome to our abbreviated Family Handbook! 

This shortened guide is designed for your convenience as we embark on another exciting school year together. Your engagement & partnership are vital as we work towards achieving our three campus goals: growing our culture of literacy, strengthening student supports, & empowering our community

ARRIVAL

Doors open: 7:20 AM

Drop-off: Front of building

 

For safety, families are not allowed inside during arrival.

 

Learning begins: 7:40 AM

Tardy: After 7:40 AM

DISMISSAL

Learning ends: 3:10 PM  

Dismissal begins: 3:15 PM  

 

Changes to dismissal? Contact the classroom teacher before 2:30 PM.  

Without notification, dismissal follows usual procedures.

MEDICINE & INHALERS

  • Families must check ALL medication into the nurse’s office. 
  • Students should NEVER bring medicine or inhalers in their backpacks. 
  • Medical forms are required for medication to be on campus.

DRESS CODE

  • We follow the AISD student dress code policy.  
  • All students MUST wear closed-toe tennis shoes daily.  
  • Daily PE & recess.  
  • For safety, no Crocs, slides, or flip-flops allowed.

ABSENCES

  • If a student is absent, send an excuse note when they return.  
  • Include date(s) absent, student name, & reason.  
  • For medical excuses, bring a doctor’s note.  
  • Excessive absences could result in failing grades & truancy filing with the court.

PARENT CONFERENCES

  • All teachers have a 45-minute daily conference time.  
  • Contact your classroom teacher to schedule a meeting.  
  • All conferences must be scheduled in advance.  
  • We look forward to meeting with you!

SNACKS & CELEBRATIONS

  • All students should bring a water bottle daily.  
  • Healthy snacks are acceptable; no chips or candy during class.  
  • Sharing is not permitted. 
  • Celebration food items must be store-bought & will be served in the last 15 minutes of the school day.

EARLY PICK-UP

  • Early dismissal ends at 2:45 PM.  
  • No phone calls to prepare students for early pick-up.  
  • Students will be called to the office only when an authorized person is physically present.  
  • For early pick-ups:  
    • Sign the student out at the office.  
    • Provide ID to verify authority to pick up.

TECHNOLOGY

  • All students will receive a Chromebook to stay at school. 
  • If bringing a device is necessary, they must be powered off &  placed in the student's backpack.
  • If a device is seen by staff, it will be confiscated & sent to the office for safekeeping until a parent picks it up.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

  • Weekly emails & text messages with important info & dates are sent.  
  • Keep your email & phone number current with our front office staff.  
  • Monthly events include Principal Chats, Parent Resource events, PTA, & Campus Advisory Council Meetings.

STUDENT BEHAVIOR

  • Our focus is teaching & learning.  
  • Staff are trained to manage student behavior, supported by our counseling team.  
  • If a student disrupts learning, we will request family partnership to problem-solve & create an action plan.
